R9 apart again

Haven't been having very good luck with the R9 and replacement pickups. The Seth Anniversaries had a bad neck pickup and the Fralins did the ice pick thing to my poor old eardrums. Now I am trying a set of WCR Goodwoods on Mr. Wagner's recommendation because i REALLY like what the Fillmores do for my R8. Looks like I have kinda settled on Duncans and Fralins for single coil work and WCR's for buckers. Reports to follow.

Cool! Do me a favor when you install the GoodWoods, and please clearly differentiate the GWs and the Fillmores to the best of your abilities...

That may be a prob. The R9 is EXTREMLY light (like 8 pounds or so) and a bit brighter than my other 2 bucker equipped Les Pauls. This was apparent when all 3 still had Burstbuckers. I ask Mr. Wagnerfor a recommendation based on that info and he said Goodwoods. The Fillmores get up and rock pretty hard, so if you want a mellower "low output" sound, they may not be for you. I listened to the Anthony Steele clips of him usinfg both on the WCR website and couldn't hear a whole of of difference betqween the clips. Goodwoods may have sounded a bit rounder and Fillmores kinda had a bit of the "Marshall Howl" with the slightly "hollow" mids.

That R9 sounds like its been quite a bit of trouble for you. How about I just take it off your hands so you never have these problems again :fingersx:
