rad vintage lo-watt tube combos...

Empty Pockets

BadHairDayologist
i want something low in the wattage department with like a couple of tens and tubes that i can overdrive for as little money as possible.

should i just get an old Univox or Sovtek combo?

is anybody giving away orange rocker 30's?

what about the 100-watt 2x12 Valvetronixes...are they worth it? Can i turn the watts down like on the head?

I also like Fender and Peavey amps if you guys think that would be better. I'm completely open to suggestions.

i'm basically trying to do Curl Up and Die or the Blood Brothers' tone with less than 40 watts.

Re: rad vintage lo-watt tube combos...

The Crate V-series offer 5,15,30 and 50 watters.
There tube, cheap and sound good.
Billy Gibbons uses the 50 watt.

Re: rad vintage lo-watt tube combos...

Those Univox/Lafayette 15 watt 1x12" amps with the 6973 output tubes are pretty ridiculous sounding when you crank them...dirt cheap amps, but good luck finding new tubes.

Re: rad vintage lo-watt tube combos...

Epiphone Valve Standard and Valve Special. I bought the 5 watt Valve Special with 1 10" for $220.00. I love it. Could use a better speaker though...

Re: rad vintage lo-watt tube combos...

Ampeg Jet
old Silvertone amps
old Gibson Amps
60s-70s Traynor Guitarmate

Any of those amps will get you rad vintage style tones.

Re: rad vintage lo-watt tube combos...

+ 1,000 on the Traynor Guitarmate, a very cool little 20-25 watt EL84 amp, esp with an efficient speaker. Wish I still had mine...
