Randall G3 series (better or worse than the G2 series?)

Well I've been looking at getting a Randall combo again so I can jam in my room. I was gonna get the RG75G2 which is solid-state, but I just found out they were replaced by the G3 series which uses some Valve-Dynamics tube hybrid crap. Maybe you guys can tell me if the G3 series is any better or worse than the G2 series please?

Bump...

Has anyone here had any experience with both series of amps? Should I stick to trying to hunt down a G2 as planned or is the G3 the way to go?

I like my G2, never used a G3 though, sorry.

Thank you. :) I've decided I'm gonna try to hunt down a G2. I realized that the tube aspect of the G3 wouldn't be very good for an amp I'll be using in my room since I'd have to seriously crank it for good tone.

Actually I think the tube they use is in the preamp, to drive some diodes. I could be wrong but I think that means you don't need to crank it to get good tone. AFAIK that only applies to power tubes for the most part... aside from the fact that most if not all amps sound better at higher volume in my experience, even my old Randall RG series.

I would say screw the G3, just try and find the G2, or if you can the oringal RG series... great combos with really good SS tone.

Great, thank you.

Wrong on the G3 series, they are using a low gain (12AT7) preamp tube to drive the power section to get the tube dynamics, http://www.randallamplifiers.com/about/news/valvedynamic.asp. If I were in the market for a new amp, I'd definitely look into the T2 and V2 amps.
