I have a RARE set of Duncan Designed HB-104 pickups for sale!

These are a recreation of a one-off design Seymour Duncan created for the short-lived Tony Iommi signature guitar from Patrick Eggle in the UK and are quite unique! They have thick (X2N style) chrome rails and are as heavy as small bricks! The rail design works with both regular and trem-spaced guitars.

Both pickups are in very good condition with only minor signs of use. There are a couple small splits at the very ends of the bobbins where the rails end, which appear to be a result of the way the pickups were manufactured, but these are totally superficial and barely visible.

Bridge = 17K, 8.5" leads
Neck = 8K, 8.75" leads

$70 Shipped to the lower-48 U.S.

Hey there. The set of SD Iommi pickups, are they still available? Also, are they pickups that you've personally used or heard? Thanks, B.R.

Yes, the pickups are still available.

Please note that these are different than the Custom Shop "El Diablo" Iommi pickups, though they look quite similar. These were an earlier design created for the Tony Iommi signature guitar by Patrick Eggle in the '90s and have their own voice. It has been several years since I used them extensively myself, but I know they are fairly thick with lots of low end presence and better suited to neutral and brighter sounding guitars.

I recall that the bridge has lots of mids, a smoother top end and a solid bass presence. It's reasonably tight and really crunches when driven with good harmonic qualities. The voicing was definitely rock/metal oriented with lots of output, but cleaned up easily with the volume rolled back. Overall, a pretty punchy pickup that works for lots of styles.

I remember the neck being very warm and having a unique clean tone. The solo voice when driven is creamy and mates well with the bridge, but the neck pickup can become a bit muddy if used in a really dark guitar. Overall, though, a very cool pickup in the right guitar. I used one for quite a while in the neck of a mahogany superstrat several years ago and liked it because it gave me a different sound than any other pickup I tried.

Yeah, they aren't the same as the Iommi, he had the SHTI-1 custom shop pickup, which is exactly the same pickup as the Diablo, 21K+. These have steel blades and a ceramic magnet (instead of A2 magnets) and are more like a Duncan Distortion, according to Evan.

Hella worth $70, I looked for some a while back and could never find any. I'd be all over this if I didn't already have enough pickups for twice as many guitars as I own.
