Rattling Grillcloth

Re: Rattling Grillcloth

Agreed.

That is in no way the way that amp should sound. The boosted dirty channel should sound good at those settings and then adjust to taste.

No, I play it on the clean channel, with the volume cranked, so I get the natural overdrive, lke an old Blackface.
I havent even used the OD channel except to test it out.
Also, when I say the rattle stops when I press agaisnt the grillcloth and play loud, pretty much says its the grillcloth. Ive heard a grillcloth rattle before. I have one Marshall someone reclothed with cane that rattles like a sum***** and also needs reclothing.
Not much about this issue on the web, so its a good thing this is being bandied about, not a troll thing.
BTW, I MUST get a good mic and learn to make proper clips.

The beauty of that amp is its ability to pull off both a high-gain Marshall tone and a Fender clean tone, not simply one or the other. If all you're wanting is a Fender clean tone and then you're overdriving it to get something dirty instead of switching channels, it would be a lot cheaper to get an old silver or blackface Fender.
