Hi. I've been trying to decide on what to replace the "Duncan Designed" set of pickups that came with my Schecter CSH-1 (a really sweet semi hollow). Tha fact is, its a good sounding guitar already with those (not just my opinion- I sub with a couple different bands, and everybody digs the tone) but I'm sure I could make it better.I dont want any radical, hi gain metal sounds (I like that stuff tho), more like a Santana, Gary Moore sound. I saw A LOT of positive reviews of the Virtual PAF, and was wondering if anybody here has tried them. Any other suggestions would be welcome as well.

I have used them a ton

Great PUP. In my PRS, which is similar to some Schecters, they sounded sweet with a sizzle to them or kinda fizz. They are somewhat modern. The neck will make a 24 fret sound beefy and classic while still doing modern shred and being flutey. I compare them to the SD Jazz which I have tried but never owned.

i have never been huge on the Duncan Designed models.

The VPAF bridge is a little bright and thin for me (not horribly) but I would want the HOT model or an Air Zone or Breed neck. I used the Air Norton but it was too polite in the bridge - great for fusion.

I have been very Duncan lately.

The VPAF is a unique pup and gives you a great classic sound that any modern shredder would enjoy. Very clear, bright top, full bass, balanced mids, and that 3d presence - great is you use reverbs and delay.
