re-tolexing advice

I have a small bad cat amp similar to the one below (just in a different tolex) & I want to recover it, I've retolexed cabs pretty successfully in the past.

However I have no idea how to cover the recessed section on the top panel directly above the faceplate using a single piece of tolex & the rounded internal corners on the front panel cutout for the faceplate again using a single piece of tolex.

Can anyone offer some advice or even better a link to a guide

Re: re-tolexing advice

You should be able to disassemble this cabinet to see how all the details are tolexed...

Re: re-tolexing advice

Thanks for the replies, I guess I didnt explain properly, My existing cabinet corners has small tolex triangles to cover where the cuts dont entirely cover the internal corners.

The picture of the amp I posted doesn't have these triangles & just has one constant piece of smooth tolex with no cuts & I'm trying to work how it's achieved.

Did a little googling earlier & I'm thinking I need some 4 way stretch vinyl, (like they use in the auto-industry apparently)

Unless someone knows a better/the proper way??

Re: re-tolexing advice

You are referring to the inside cutout on top by the knobs

In the link

At the bottom

He shows the inside of a heart cutout

There is a guy on YouTube that does these
He makes his speaker cabinet with an oval hole in back

He spreads it over the hole
Makes some small cuts that don't quite come up to the wood of the hole
Then splays it back like fingers
Dont cut the slits too deep

I cant remember his name

But search on building guitar cabinets

Re: re-tolexing advice

OP, -is that amp actually using traditional Tolex or a modern Vinyl hybrid?

-and any chance heat was used on the application to get that kind of smooth geometry with a more modern product?

I don't know, its a picture off the web not my amp, it's how I want mine to look when it's done
