Ready to start DI tracks for the next album! (pic inside)

TwilightOdyssey

Darkness on the edge of Tone
I started writing/templating out/recording guide tracks/making tempo maps for the new album 7 weeks ago.

Put new strings on all of the guitars this weekend (what a chore!). And set up my 'DI station' in a toddler-proof cabinet. :)

Signal chain will be: guitar > BBE > SSL. SSL send > compressor > SSL return (pre-EQ) > Saffire 18i20. Let the fun begin!

So what's the amp sound your using as you track?

Not sure what models just yet, but they will be cheap n cheerful -- clean, break up, crunch, distortion.
Just using LPX models which will be removed from the DI when I reamp.

Do you do solos in the box too? I always feel those are the hardest to capture the feel of without going into a real amp.

A year ago I would have done the solos when I was reamping, but this time I am going to DI the solos as well. You are quite right, it's probably a good 33% harder to do this way, but not impossible.
