Really frustrated - humbucker buzz

So, I got an Anderson H3 the other day. The tabs were stripped and pickup screws slipped, so I had to crimp them in a bit to fit, which was annoying, but today I just got it wired up and it buzzes really loudly, like a single coil. I'm pretty sure it's not an amp or pedal issue because I just tried another guitar with piezos through them the other day and it was dead quiet. I'm not sure if it's a grounding issue, because the hum still remains if I touch the strings or any other metal parts. Any idea what might be wrong? If the pickup's defective I'm going to be really p.oed.

Is it a multiple conductor model? You may have it wired wrong.

Inline plastic switches or volume pots can get noisey if you over heat them during installation.

It can be a couple of things, dish out some more info as to the type of guitar and what you did during installation/soldering.

Looking at some diagrams, I think I might know what's wrong - I wired the green to the pot hole and taped the red and white together. Apparently the red goes to the potentiometer hole while you tape the green and white together. Anyone else own Andersons and care to confirm?

This is probably why the guitar was sounding like a sitar, too.

Re: Really frustrated - humbucker buzz

You probably had the baseplate on the hot side of the circuit instead of grounded, which would give you a LOT of buzz.

Re: Really frustrated - humbucker buzz

Extant, it sounds like you got the standard humbucker wiring correct from your second post:

Red to Hot.
Green and White, soldered and taped.
Black and bare to ground.
