Recommend me a 2x12

i am looking for a 2x12 amp dont really care about alot of watts needs fairly good cleans and great distortion, i will be using it for metal playing with no effects loop or pedals most likely just need a bare bones METAL 2x12 amp price range= no more then 850 canadian.... is it possible? :smoker:

Rect-O-Verbs only come in head version or 1x12 combo version. I don't think they offer a 2x12 version anymore, which would mean he would need to buy a Rect-O-Verb Head and a 2x12 separately. $800 CANADIAN dollars may cover a used Rect-O-Verb head but you wouldn't have enough for a cab I don't think.

If you really want a 2x12 combo and wanna go the Mesa route you could probably pickup a Nomad 45 or 55 2x12 combo on Ebay. I think that would be more in your price range.

mesa for under 850 canadian??? somehow i dont think so, but i am curious how much do bogner/avatar amps go for? i hear bogners are DAMN expensive like mesa, need info on both of those, thanks

are the mesa route series good for metal??? i havent heard one before any one have clips??

What does $850 Canadian translate to in U.S. Dollars? I was basing my previous post on a guess. :rolleyes: Let us know the translation and we all can help you out better. :)

lol i dont really know......... i just found a mesa/boogie maverick dual rectifier combo on ebay for 496 CAD..............good amp?

also personally i am not to keen on ebay because of the shipping rates any other suggestions?

How 'bout a Canadian made Traynor YCV80? 80 watt 2x12, footswitch w/lead boost, high gain amp. It will definitely do metal with the 'scoop' button pushed in and tweaking the eq knobs.

P.S. Don't freak about the 80 watts. Has a master volume so you can play quietly, but the power's there if you need it!

There's one on ebay right now at $160. I got mine off ebayer acousticaxis, whom also has a store of the same name in Virginia.

850 Canadian is about 640 American.

Do you plan on playing mostly in your house, or a small band?

A nomad would be no good for metal.
Try a used peavey XXX.


A bogner is out of your price range by alot.
Avatar make cabinets, not amps.

The Maverick rocks, but it isn't a high gain amp. You would probably end up using a pedal to get a good metal tone, however with the 2x12 version there is plenty of low end. It's a semi open back, so it has more thump than most 2x12's

Hmmm SoCal steve that traynor 80 watt sounds good, plus as a bonus my shops sells em i've never really looked into them before


EDIT: to the question of bands/home play i will be playing in a small-medium
crowd band but mostly at home and again i am highly interested about traynor amps :cool3: ....... thanks

Carvin MTS 3212 combo. i think it's 650 USD. im not sure how much that is candian, shouldnt be too much...

Peavey XXX would be perfect, try used, or a 5150.
