i have actually been considering the jb for quite awhile, but i was wondering if it is going to have the same qualities as my super distortion.. because from what i understand it is a high'ish output pickup right?
Yes, high output, but warm sounding, and you just roll the volume if you want to calm it down...
Can anyone recommend me a good bridge pickup for classic/hard rock in an epi les paul? I am currently using a dimarzio super distortion and it's a bit too harsh for my tastes. i play alot of gnr, zeppelin, acdc.. thanks!

no JB for GNR or AC/DC. you need a low/medium output pup with. slash uses the Alnico II's and angus always uses vintage stock sg's and they have low output P.A.F.'s. you need an Alnico II magnet not a Alnico V mag or a ceramic because your tone will go out the window because of all the extra gain ur getting from the pickup. slash says he uses the Alnico II pro's because he prefers to get his distortion from the amp, not his pickups. and no they will not sound weak if not played through a Marshall. Slash uses a number of different amps on the Velvet Revolver albums, on "fall to pieces" he uses a Fender super champ. Im using a Peavey Valveking 112 and the Alnico II's got more balls than u will ever need. they will do slide, blues, jazz, classic rock and hard rock
that was exactly what I was thinking. i had a feeling that the high output of the ceramic magnet was the main obstacle to obtaining the kind of sound that I want. cheers mate!
GFS Bigmouth, Good for classic rock, metal, and anything in between. I myself replaced a Super Distortion with it and it is a fantastic sounding pickup.
