Recommend some Locking tuners to me

I have an Epiphone LZZY Hale model, so the tuners need to be gold.

It's a great guitar, tuned drop B with Duncan blackouts...plays and sounds amazing.
have to tune all the time, so it pissed me off.

Please recommend GOLD locking tuners that you know will fit this model.
I don't want crap, but they also don't have to be the best made either. Middle of the road is fine.

Thanks.

Hipshots are nice, especially with that mounting plate. I'm partial to Gotoh locking tuners - they fit grover holes and are made in Japan

BUT - you know that locking tuners don't do anything for tuning stability. If you are re-tuning all the time the nut is likely the issue. I'm sure those Lizzy Hale have decent tuners already - the locking tuners just make string changes easier.

Dali you are probably right...
It may very well be the nut. I should probably check string clearance and lube it.
It's probably got the same tuners as my goth explorer which has never had a single tuning issue ever....

I literally pulled this LZZY brand new out of the box, slapped heavy strings on it, swapped pickups and have left it at the rehearsal studio ever since. Playing it once it twice a week and never really giving it a full and proper setup

FWIW I just read a post on another forum where a guy upgraded his LP tuners to Grover locking tuners and he said the sustain and resonance was much improved.

This sounds like the culprit... The nut was probably cut to 9's in the factory and for drop B I'd guess you put on a set of 11 or 12. No wonder it gets stuck! But yeah, lube helps in most cases... ;) Joking aside, if it's really a 3 gauge difference, then I'd consider having it cut tonthe correct size.

If it has Grover minis, then just get the locking versions, as suggested above.

FWIW, I think that guitar would look killer with a black truss rod cover, black pickup rings, black bell knobs, and a five-ply black and white guard with the old style wide bevel.

I'll drag a small file to rehearsal and work a tiny bit o magic with the nut and then graphite the slots.
if it doesn't improve......, then grover mini lockers it is,
Thanks boys.

Funny, I just put grover tulips on both of my Gibsons and pulled the deluxe tuners off! Huge improvement in tuning stability! Fwiw.

Stability isn't the reason I go for locking tuners (though they are really stable). I do it for the ease of string changing. Winding around a post is archaic.

Of course you would expect better tuning stability with locking tuners but who would have thought it would improve tone and sustain?

Improved tone is very subjective
and sustain is wistful thinking

Based on....?

Are experienced guitarists just making things up? I modded a bridge on a notoriously poor-sustaining guitar and it made a great difference. The lack of sustain before the mod made the guitar almost intolerable to play.

If a bridge makes a difference like that, I'm open to the theory and firsthand reviews of improved sonics resulting from tuner improvements.

Based on that subjective interpretation of.my post

Seriously ?

Sustain improves with new strings
which usually coincides with the new tuners

Cmon man
