Recommendations for a PRS Tremonti SE.

So here's what I'm already running in my dual humbucker guitars:

'59 and JB

Jazz and 59/Custom hybrid

'59 and Custom

I'm looking to replace the pickups in my Tremonti SE at some point (which, by the way, aren't too bad). I'm looking for something a little different than what I'm currently using, without being too exotic. I was thinking of a Sentient or something similar in the neck, and maybe a Distortion or Custom 5 in the bridge. I tend to like something more vintage in the neck position, and hotter in the bridge, although as I've gotten older, I have grown to appreciate lower output and vintage sounding pickups. Thoughts/suggestions?

Re: Recommendations for a PRS Tremonti SE.

I like the Sentient in the neck, it's a modern EQ voicing but still a relatively low output. I also really like the Full Shred neck that I put in my Kauer Banshee. It's a really bright, low output pickup that can do vintage tones really well.

Re: Recommendations for a PRS Tremonti SE.

I'm going to throw out something unusual:

A2P neck with Custom 5 bridge.

A2P = Bass, mids, fat highs, classic output

C5 = Bass, sharp treble, hot output (but not silly)

You get a really wide range, and a very unique blended middle position. Outputs all similar to what you use now, and a modern, but very different neck from what you have (think opposite of the Jazz)

Also - you are an A2 away from trying an A2P / Custom Custom if you don't like that. That gives you matching fat highs and a serious mid boost in the bridge.

Re: Recommendations for a PRS Tremonti SE.

I'd certain;y go for an Alnico II Pro in the neck. It is different than what you currently have. A Black Winter for the bridge would also be vastly different.

I really like those suggestions. I think I'll try it out. I'll report back when I do. Thanks guys.

Re: Recommendations for a PRS Tremonti SE.

Aceman, if you haven’t yet, check out the Charvel DK24 HSH with the A2P and Full Shred. I’m curious what other people think about it. The neck pickup is amazing to my ears and I noticed that it has a double row of hex screws unlike the regular A2P. I want to think that an A2P neck is a Jazz with an A2 mag and a Full Shred neck is a Jazz with a double row of hex screws, making this an A2 Full Shred neck. The Full Shred is supposed to be a Duncan Custom with an A5 and double hexs so essentially a C5 with different poles. I’m wondering if others come to the same conclusions, especially with the DK24 neck pickup.
