Recommendations For Dirt Pedal

I'm a bit dissatisfied with one of my distortion pedals. My current setup I have a Zvex Double Rock for lighter gain, then a big muff for heavier fuzz. I need something in between those 2. I've tried quite a few, and I've been using a Marshall Jackhammer. It's pretty good but it's a bit muddy and compressed.

I'm looking for something in the heavier Marshall flavor. Similar to the jackhammer but better. Any recommendations?

Have you tried stacking the distortrons in the Double Rock? I use that... I set the second one for like medium crunch and the first one dirtier to slam it. Then i have dirty, dirtier, or both at once for maximum power.

That new DOD / Black Arts pedal looks sweet too but I haven't gotten my hands on one personally yet....

I've went thru a rat deucetone (all the rats), and bogner red. Didn't like those.

Hmm oddly enough I didn't try that yet, will do soon. I saw that pedal too, looks amazing!

Looked into the Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret yet? Super Bass and Super Lead modes from what I understand.

Above mentioned Dirty Little Secret
Wampler Plextortion
Wampler Pinnacle
Xotic SL Drive

Proco Rat. Love that pedal.Am getting another one, even though I'm getting my disttortion and most of my tones from an old ADA MP-1 tube preamp. There's just something about the RAT, great sweep on the filter and great tones from in between light breakup type sounds to supercharged nitro burning 392 Hemi at 7,000 rpms (yeah I'm a gearhead too). I also like the Marshall Jackhammer, if you can find one, or the old Guv'nor.

Re: Recommendations For Dirt Pedal

Maybe an MXR Super Badass distortion is up your alley? Or a Wampler Sovereign.

Re: Recommendations For Dirt Pedal

The Xotic SL Drive sounds perfect for you. I own the latter, it's nice and smooth and fat, decent mids. Initially it seems muddy, though it's very well worth playing with the inner dip switches, theres a LOT of Marshall flavoured control in there.

The Barber direct drive pedals (new/used) are worth checking out. Don't be fooled by the price--they're as good or better than most of the more expensive stuff. They also do stuff, circuit-wise, that is a bit more advanced than the average pedals out there to voice the sound, but tone is a matter of taste. [No affiliation with Barber]
