Recommendations ? Looking for a Versatile Bridge Pickup for Rock/Metal in a PRS

Re: Recommendations ? Looking for a Versatile Bridge Pickup for Rock/Metal in a PRS

I think the original PRS wiring required a magnet flip in there somewhere.

Did it ? Sounds interesting.

Though my model came standard with a 3-way switch, not a 5-way, as far as I know.

Oh, then you are ok. The original PRS 5 way rotary switches (and later 5 ways with 2 humbuckers) were the ones that needed the magnet flip for their weirdo setup (which sounded good).

Another vote for the Custom. It was actually the very first SD pickup i ever tried. I was just starting out and wanted basically the same versatility your asking for, and it nailed it for me. After many years of experimenting, it's still a favorite of mine for mahogany bodied guitars.

It's also a great platform for experimentation. Later down the road if you get the itch to try new things, you can try different magnets or the "hybrid" route. The Duncan Custom inspired the creation of many variants like the Custom Custom, Custom 5, Custom 8 and the '59/Custom Hybrid.
