Recommended Gibson SG wiring kit?

For my SGJ - replacing the dang circuit board. I have a Seymour Duncan Distortion in the Bridge - was also wondering what is recommended pot wise for the volume. The guitar is a 24 fret maple neck - The distortion does sound bright even with the stock 300k. I was even thinking put a liberator in so I can swap pickups in and out. Cheers

I'm not fond of this but if you find it bright with 300k pots then go down in value...that said I'm not sure 250k pots are going to be much warmer than 300k pots.

Do you use the tone controls??

I did this mod to my Les Paul when I switched out the stock pickups for a set of Pearly Gates. Check out Tundratone.com Huge selection, quality stuff. I'm pleased with the way my guitar sounds now. I went with 500K volume and tone pots, PIO tone caps. Good luck. I hope your SG turns out as well as my LP did.

I do have an a8, so I may try that out. I some how managed to break the connector for the earth wire and do not want to pay $40 for postage for the Molex connectors so I can swap pickups. That's why I want to go point to point. I'm just not sure what a good price was for the harness.cheers people

wait wait...before you go blaming the pots or the pickups lets look at the big picture:

What amp are you using?

for harnesses tho (if thats really what you need)...i have wired my own to good effect, but also had good success with a harness from bc's.

Re: Recommended Gibson SG wiring kit?

I'm just replacing the pcb, I just wanted someone to recommend me what pots/harness I should use. I use a krank rev pro 50- which can get very bright with the the prescence knob up.
I'll probably just do it myself, I'm thinking about splitting the bridge and neck.
