Recorded funk rock with a country pickup

I love crossover things. I sought for a classic voiced tele bridge pickup with a little more bite. Nothing over the top, but just a nudge more.
I play the blues and funky rock stuff. I tried a lot of things but ended up with the Seymour Duncan Jerry Donahue signature model. I play nothing like Jerry Donahue and don't really listen to his kind of music - but his pickup suits me perfectly.

Dare to experiment more – maybe a metal pickup for jazz? Maybe Slash pickups for pop? That's my advice anyway. Just try what you come across – you never know, you know…

Anyway I used the Donahue in my telecaster on this recording released today: funkrocky sound on a pickup with country intentions. I'm really happy with the results! Listen to it here: (Spotify-link below)

You can play any kind of music with any guitar/pickup combo.

Most pop music is recorded with JB's.

I'm pretty sure they have no idea who Jeff Beck is

Pickups don't have 'intentions'......nothing was ever originally wound for a certain genre. Its merely you thinking because it has been extensively used by people in a certain style that this is the case.

Pickups don't have 'intentions'......nothing was ever originally wound for a certain genre. Its merely you thinking because it has been extensively used by people in a certain style that this is the case.

Well I was refering to a signature pickup and it, of course, was made with intentions. But my point was that you don't have to be afraid to explore those pickups, even if you play in another style than what the pickup was designed for.
