Hey everyone,
I have a really basic recording question, lets say I've recorded two tracks of guitar. I've applied compression to each track ( it's a doubled part). I've read that depending on the circumstance it may be desireable to send both tracks to a bus and apply more light compression at the bus.
I did this late last night for the first time so I didn't have much time at all to experiment but I noticed that when I soloed the bus, it had a very compressed sound even at a ratio of 2:1, I assume this is because I'm re-compressing an already compressed signal...am I right? Secondly, what do I do with the signal from the bus? Do I bring the volume up along with the individual guitar track volumes or just leave it down? Is the signal from the bus going to "tape" so to speak or is it just effecting the guitar track signal which is what goes to tape. Does this make any sence?
Any help would be really appreciated!
Thanks,
Scott
