Recording using Audacity question?

Hi folks,
My desktop finally died a a while back and until I replace it ( very soon I hope ) everything is being run on my astrophotography laptop.

I have heard you can use Audacity to record directly through the USB from my Mustang 2 v2, but I have yet to find a clear tutorial on how to do so. Is it really possible and if so I would greatly appreciate some pointers on what I may be missing?

Are you using Ableton Lite Fender edition software? This is the only 3rd party software specifically called out in the manual for the Mustang.
It does not look like the Mustang supports uPnP, so it may not show up as a selectable interface in Audacity.

If the Fender Mustang bundles free Ableton-derived recording software, it would make greater sense to set things up to exploit that rather than Audacity.

The software is a free download from Fender according to the manual.

Well I hit a brick wall trying Ableton Lite Fender edition, it freezes up on startup. This laptop is not my main computer, I had a desktop that was my main system ( which I will be replacing soon )

There is A LOT of astrophotography / astronomy software on the laptop and only thing I can surmise is there is a conflict somewhere. Seeing as how I need this laptop to perform as needed at the telescope I rather just wait till I get a replacement tower and try Ableton again then. Thank you though very much for the suggestion.

I was able to configure Audacity to record using the usb connecting the amp to the laptop so at least for the next couple week I can do a bit of recording. I am currently just looking to document my progress.

I will keep you all updated on how it goes!

Audacity is very, very basic. Before making an investment I'd recommend looking a bit into it.

It is also very, very practical, especially for making quick changes of basic nature to tracks.

The handling (or lack thereof) of live effects is a weak point. Seeing and browsing a waveform quickly and manipulating it in some basic way is very efficient.
