I just bought a 1970 Traynor YBA-1, the model with small rounded cabinet. Mine does not have a choke. It has 6CA7 power tubes. Right now the amp is too bassy and loose, even if I put the bass control on zero. Headroom is not great, it breaks up at 2 on the volume with my Seth Lover loaded SG. Cab is 4x12 with Celestion G12-65's.
I plan to replace the 40uF filter caps with F&T 50uF's. I will probably change the value of the bright cap on channel 2 so it isn't so piercing. I'll add a grounded cord, and remove the death cap. Also, I'll touch up solder joints because there is a little static, and the power light flickers. What do you recommend I do to tighten up response and reduce the bass...change values of signal caps somewhere, change values in tone stack, or change feedback resistor?
