Reducing noise out of MXR CAE 401

Love the boost live, gives me the push to be in front for the leads, with out much taking away from the rhythm EQ, and is very responsive to pick dynamics. However, it is noisy as hell, even Hush in the loop does not help, any available mods ?

I have one on each of my boards and they are at the end of the effects loop chain just for a clean volume boost for lead. I've used mine for years and have never noticed any unwanted noise? Have you compared it to another unit?

It is not the booster that is noisy.

Alright! D1djs still has wicked-hot chick in his avatar and Cornford in his sig, and Rid is still brutally to the point with no nonsense. Ok, I believe in the world and humanity again, good to be back. So yeah, its in the end of the signal chain (as below in my sig) its fairly quiet, I have Hush in the loop, but noise happens only when I turn the MXR or the Flange, chorus is no noise at all, Morley whah – 0 noise, TS just a little bit, but I use it for push not for the drive – and only when I plug in into low sensitivity jack on AORs its 3V vs 4V in the preamp. So what is the noise then ?

Are the other pedals on when you kick on the boost and how much boost are you using?

i have one and it is dead silent. look to your preamp, cables or guitar wiring. the pedal isnt the source of your noise, unless youre feeding it dirty power.

Have you checked your power supply? I remember not so long ago I bought a cheap one spot that was as noisy as hell... I only discovered it by trying all of my pedals with batteries which remedied the noise.

Could also be the orientation of the powersupply, it needs to be placed where it will not emit too much noise.

I use the fuhrman 8 board/supply. VHT, can you elaborate on how to navigate for a better orientation of powersuply please ?

Well it is hands on, move it around, turn it on one side or the other and so on, until the hum gets noticeable more silent.
It is the transformator that emits the noise!
And with that board...forget it

Ok, I hear those power supplies are very quiet, but I have to ask .... Have you tried that pedal with a battery just to eliminate it as a cause?

Almost all supplies are quiet..if they are far from pedals, or reasonabled shielded.
And that is one big ass trafo close to the pedals, and yeah it is a roundcore one, but it will still emit noise.

Good Sir, are you saying the i should put additional shielding on the board's power supply ?

Ok, I hear those power supplies are very quiet, but I have to ask .... Have you tried that pedal with a battery just to eliminate it as a cause?

Well ... i have pretty strong Velcro, and prefer for the pedals to sit solid on the board as it tossed around from the car and back. But if all options fail, i will try this one as last

Is it noisy when you turn the volume on your guitar all the way off? Could be the shielding in the guitar.

I don't use any gates or suppressor. Cornford amps aren't the quietist of amps in terms of background noise and using a gain pedal in front of the amp can induce noise but I've never had a problem with the CAE pedal. The worst noise I ever had was due to a cheap power supply and daisy chain creating a ground loop hence me asking if you had tried a battery.

+1. The power supply is a more likely culprit than the pedal.

So the two pedals hum The CAE 401 and FL9 Ri, i am using a borrowed amp - EVH III 50, and the same story. So, how do I properly shield my SPB-8?
