Re: refret

Depends on where you live.

Though expensive doesn't necessarily mean better, I dunno if I'd trust anyone who charged less than ~$250...and none of my guitars have bound fretboards. I wouldn't be surprised if a LP refret by a reputable luthier pushed $300.

Re: refret

That sounds about right- my friend had a re-fret done by Gary Brawer in SF. It set him back $250. He put in 6100's to give him even more fret life. Bring it to a reputable shop or luthier, and always ask for references or samples of his work. I know a lot of two-bit scammers who do hack jobs at full price!

Re: refret

My refret prices: 200 €uros on a rosewood or Ebony neck, + 50 for maple fretboard or binding (cumulative to max total of 300 € ).

Price includes total setup (includes electronics cleaning, cleaning and polishing the entire axe on top of normal setup), Fretwire and new strings.

Re: refret

As a couple of guys said about 300. You may be able to do it for less as long as you don't mind the binding not covering the fret ends. Gibson mounts the binding after the frets are in. IF you want to keep the authentic look it takes longer and costs more. If you don't object to the Fret end sitting on top of the binding it will be easier and less expensive.

Actually, that´s the 250 € version. If you want me to remove binding during the refret to keep the nibs on a vintage gibson or similar intact, you better be sitting down when I quote you ;)

Is that for a "Push In" or a "Glue In" (or a combination) job?

Re: refret

Whenever I do 'em, I charge 100 for rw no biding; 150 maple; 200 for binding. I know alot of folks are sayin "Cant no 17 yr old do a refret" Well, when you sit there and study the neck formula in the Guitar Player's Repair Guide instead of doing your Alg. 2 homework, you can.
