regular spaced dimarzio on a strat?

Re: regular spaced dimarzio on a strat?

Hm, i don't know, but you need a F-spaced DiMarzio for a strat.
Like i saied this 100000 times before:
The trembucker/F-spaced Humbuckers should be the standard!

yeah especially NOW even gibson has a wider spacing!!!!!
my wine red custom has a F spaced pup and it lines up perfect!

Re: regular spaced dimarzio on a strat?

a regular spaced DMZ on a strat will be WAY WAY off. even the F-spaced DMZs fall short on the wider vintage spaced strat trems. i have 3 strats with vintage style trems with F-spaced DMZs in them and each of them are off a bit and don't line up perfectly so i'd be scared to see how off a regular spaced hum would be.

however on a MIM strat with the narrow spacing you may be able to get away with it.

I thought so and you are right the F-spaced by them is still off on a trem!

OK how much does this affect the performance of the pup though?
is it just cosmetic?
i need to know because i am buying a dimarzio from someone here

Re: regular spaced dimarzio on a strat?

it will still work...BUT...there will be a lack of low end/volume from the low E and an lack of high end/volume from the high E due to the poles not lining up. so you can try it and just move the pickup closer than normal to try and make up for it but you are better off getting F spaced for sure.
