Reissue Fender 59 Bassman LTD

Tone King

New member
Tis past Saturday I went to Parkway Music and bought a used
reissue Fender 59 Bassman LTD:cool2: I A/B the Bassman with
a Vox AC30H2 50th Anniversary and I liked the sound of the
Bassman Better. Played both Amps with my Telecaster the
only thing that I could see that was changed it had a GZ34
in it. Very happy with this Amp I will do some mods like new
Tubes. I hope to have some pictures and I will have to go
to a friends house to take them:)

Re: Reissue Fender 59 Bassman LTD

because you're new I will tell you the rule of this forum... pictures or didn't happen.

Re: Reissue Fender 59 Bassman LTD

Y'know... I've been playing guitar almost 40 years, and I've never played a tweed Bassman. There's something wrong there. Marshalls are really my thing, but I like Fender cleans, too. It seems a Bassman would be the perfect meeting place for me, but I've just never tried one.

i saw a clinic Albert Lee did with a borrowed Reissue Bassman, and a boss Delay, a cord and his Music Man... wow he sounded great... when i tried the exact amp myself i liked it but i'm no albert lee... But a bassman is on my shopping list...

Re: Reissue Fender 59 Bassman LTD

Fender issued a limited Bassman maybe 10 years ago that included Reverb... is this the model you bought?

Re: Reissue Fender 59 Bassman LTD

Crguti & WhoFan I don't have pictures yet because I don't own
a camera. Ihave to bring the Amp to a friend's house and the Amp
does not have Reverb. I emailed Fender to find out when the Amp
was built. Do a lot of players use this Amp and the style of music
that I play is 60's. Beatles, Byrds, Paul Revere and the Raiders,
Bobby Fuller Four, Beach Boys, and others:cool2: I play with the
music I grew up with.

Re: Reissue Fender 59 Bassman LTD

Rockandrollrods, I understand that I thought that I would
have more money then I did. As I said that Amp was in my
price range. The wife want money for bills and I did look at
other amps like a Tone King Imperial and a Top Hat Super
Club Deluxe. Those Amps were out of my price range and I
did check other Fender Amps like the Twin Reverb and Super
Reverb and the Deluxe Reverb. Besides the Bassman the only
other Amp that was in my price range was the reissue Fender
Deluxe. I still want to get a reverb and trem pedal and I left
out to others Carl Perkins and James Burton.

Re: Reissue Fender 59 Bassman LTD

Last night I sold my reissue Fender 59 Bassman LTD.
I'm going in a different direction going to be looking
at these different amps. (1) Tone King Imperial or
Galaxy (2) DR Z Jaz 20/40 (3) Swart Ast Head MK11
and Super Space Tone 30 Head and Cab. There is
also Marsh amps (4) Brownface 63 Vibroverb Replics
(5) Marsh 5F6A Bassman Replica (6) Juke Warbler
and the only Fender will be the Vibro- King.

Re: Reissue Fender 59 Bassman LTD

I've had a 90's Bassman and a 2000's Bassman LTD. I tried hard to like them, but the strident mids, 10" speakers, and high headroom forced me to sell mine too. Good amp, just not for me.

I'll tell you a good trick for adding reverb to a Bassman though. Put something like a Holy Grail on top, and plug into Bright 1. Run a cable out of Bright 2 into the reverb unit, then out of that into Normal 1. You'll be running direct into the amp, then using the normal channel to mix in reverb to taste, as well as beefing up the tone by jumping channels. You can do this on 4 input Marshalls too.

I would jump on one of those Marsh amps in a heartbeat. Happy shopping!

Re: Reissue Fender 59 Bassman LTD

I have an early 90's '59 Bassman RI (not LTD) and I love that amp to death. It is one of my two amps that are always on when I am playing.
