Here's a neat little video review of it. :D

This is the EXACT amp I tried out.

i have been gassing for one of those for a few months now. maybe one day either that or i will track down one of the 1987x reissues and send it to him to do those mods. i saw in a thread on tgp that jerry cantrell has replaced his bogner with another one and is running 2 marsha's now. there is a pics of his new rig and there looks like 4 marsha's.

Very tight and focused- its kind of a mix between a 2203 and a Super bass tonally, but without the marshall sparkle..which unfortunately seems to be lost in many of the boutique clones as they try to gain them out and tighten them up.

Still- VERY cool amp- I dig.

It's cool, no doubt, but I like the Marsha better

It's really nice though to see a review of an amp and not have it be all weedly weedly and or all death metal chunk. This was a really good review.

Yeah I was talking to a guy at the local GC the other day who's an amp nut like I've never seen... cool guy though. He suggested talking to Dave and asking if I could get a JMP converted to a Naked. He's had Dave do some work for him before and says it's probably doable and his prices for mods are reasonable.

Dunno if I'll go that route... if anything I'd sell my Ecstasy and get a Naked. That probaly won't happen for a few years though.

Yeah this amp was pretty tight and focused, but mainly in the feel and the response of it. In person it sounds much more open and percussive like an old hopped-up Marshall does. I thought that was so neat - compressed feel but not sound - usually it's the other way around.

I've never quite dug that Marshall sparkle - it's always come off as brightness to me. On average I like a darker, smoother, heavier amp and that's what this is. There's still plenty of cut in the sound, though.

Sick, sick amp. I really dig the tones

Re: Remember that Dave Friedman amp I was raving over a month or two ago?

I've always loved Billy Howerdel's sound. Yet another amp I want. :(

btw - the dude played a nice King's X tune in there

Lol I thought you were going to say you got it. That would have been awesome!

I'd like to add to my previous statement by saying that the Marsha has a lot of that sparkle you refer to in it. till a badass amp, just more traditional sounding.

Still waiting for the guy to stop talking so i can hear the amp...

Re: Remember that Dave Friedman amp I was raving over a month or two ago?

I don't like it, really... Misses a lot of things, maybe it's the video (audio)..
Marsha sounds much, much better....
I'm used to the real thing though..

Re: Remember that Dave Friedman amp I was raving over a month or two ago?

My Dave Friedman modded '73 Marshall is the best amp I have owned. I have another Superlead here that is going to Dave very soon.

I can sympathize with that... hard to really judge a boutique amp through crappy youtube audio.

Good stuff... what mods did he do on it?

yeah, but I like Marsha amps (mods) clips - more bite, sparkle - more marshally...check them out.... and I like the best my stock Super Lead MK II (usable only for live loud gigs, though:cussing:)

Re: Remember that Dave Friedman amp I was raving over a month or two ago?

I dig the nekkid because it is a different tone to come out of a marshall-style topology. How many amps have that sparkle? Usually amps with that type of tone come in a split channel, dual EQ, bells-n-whistles type package. This is a straight up amp. 2 tones with shared eq... I dig it.
