Now I know who lost my Chapman Stick when I shipped it via UPS.

Oh man, did you ever get it back?

No. To be honest it may have been a blessing in disguise. I tried but I sucked at the Stick.

It’s one of the few instruments I ever bought new because they were kind of hard to find used (we’re talking over 20 years ago, no reverb, TGP etc) so I had a receipt and I got fully reimbursed once they admitted they lost it. I used the money to buy a nice Strat.

I've packed and shipped over 40 guitars with the endpins/strap buttons on and not a one had any damage of any sort whatsoever. They were all very well padded and double boxed with padding between the boxes. You could throw them off the roof without fear of any damage.

I guess it all comes down to how the guitar is packed. If you take the endpin out but don't pack the guitar well, you will have other damage, then you'll be writing posts about how you should take the knobs off before shipping, or why you should take the tuners off, or take the bridge off, or take the neck off, or take the...etc...off!

Those pics that were given show the damage but DON'T show how the guitar was packaged!

No matter what is taken off or left on the guitar, if it isn't packed well you will probably get some damage. If it IS packed well, you probably WON'T get damage.

So my advice is: the endpin is not your concern...leave it on. But package the guitar using some intelligence and expecting that it will be handled roughly. That should be your concern.

Um well uh if you look the buttons in relations to the center of the bridge [which is where acoustic buttons line up the button thats shattered is in line with the low E side of the bridge and not the center. Another "clue" is they are 2 different types of buttons Enstein.
Don't worry little boy some day you will grow up and be right on the internet.
As far as shipping mistakes "sh*t happens" thats what insurance is for.
