So I want to change an Ibanez Super 80 pickup with a Duncan (?) (undecided as to which one) but I want to
retain the original solid (no holes) "flying fingers" gold cover. Before it undergoes surgery will a SD, Dimarzio, Gibson humbucker fit into the Ibanez cover? I guess it gets down to dimensions/compatibility. The guitar is a 1979 Ibanez 2630 hollow body. The bridge pup is WAY TOO BRIGHT, ceramic, and the guitar is full of maple and ebony etc., which contributes to the brightness. So any pick up suggestions are welcome. I'm assuming the pots are 500K. Looking for clean warm dirt, classic rock blues genres. Probably A2. A3, A5, mags but I'm open to anything to tame the inherent brightness. ACCCKKK! Otherwise the guitar is a sweetheart. Tips for removing the cover are welcome.
