Removing some bass from Mick Thomson EMTY Blackouts?

Is it poss. to remove some of the bass from Mick Thomson EMTY Blackouts? I am playing through a JetCity JCA22H head and 4x12 cab with V30's and G12T-75's

I know that you can filter out treble but what about bass? What direction on the value of the cap would your go? Or is this the nature of the Blackouts?

I have tried a few speaker combo's and still the bottom end is muddy and



There is a little to much bass, is it poss to take some of the bass out using a filter cap or something on the pots?

Bass knob on amp? Or an eq pedal?

how close are the pickups to the strings, the closer the more present the bass is

Far out. I didn't think they were bassy at all. They were actually too bright for me.

Theoretically you could create a bass cut like G&L has, but I don't know what value pot or cap you would use for actives?

I also thought the EMTY's were pretty bright pickups when I had them. I found myself typically needing to increase the bass compared to my other guitars.

That said, I'd go with an EQ pedal to target the specific low end frequency you'd like to boost, or try backing off the strings as has been mentioned.

i keep thinking he should set his emty's a bit farther from the strings, saying an EMTY blackout has too much bass is like saying a Dimebucker has too much bass, you probably have the pickups too close to the strings if you say so
