removing sticky tape residue

Got an RBX Yamaha bass for my nephew off ebay but it has a lot of sticky tape residue on the body. Has anyone removed this gunk without damaging the otherwise perfect finish?
All help gratefully received.

That's great, did you have to use any special precautions like washing it afterwards or anything?

Use Goo Gone.

Best thing to get rid of tape, and residue. My Green buddy had tape which had been on for many many years, and so the tape took 3 hours to come off completely. But it worked, and it went from this (notice the scotch tape in a rectangular pattern - probably held a song list):

Napatha or Goo-gone.

Just wipe until its cean. The nap just evaporates no need for anything special. Use with care on older or damaged finishes.

Goo-Gone worked great on my Les Paul.... Thinking back i was surprised it didn't harm the Nitro.... should work great on Poly finnishes
