28 years apart and basically a drop in replacement. 2 Screws had to go in on a SLIGHT angle but tightened well and it is aligned perfectly. So glad to have a lower profile and have allen keys vs stupi flat heads!

BEFORE:

AFTER:

The reason for changing was the right-most screw on the old one was stripped, so not only did I get lower profile, allen key adjustment, It's also made out of a harder material than the previous.

I also did some scalloping on this guy that I will post later on (forgot to take pics...)

Cool!
Bring on teh scalloped pics!
:D

I always kinda liked the Slot-heads,used to use a dime to tighten/loosen.

They are CERTAINLY handy for that (you can see on mine how chewed they are because of random items, knives etc). But as a guy who installs allen key holders on the back of head-stocks...I much prefer them.

Yeah I'll try and grab some tonight! I'll make a new thread for that as I'm sure it'll get more action hah

I think the flatheads were designed so that they could be opened with a coin. In 8 years of owning an M4 I never did find a coin which fit there, though! Maybe American coins do? British pounds did not when I last tried.

Yeah, I did that too. Just reach in the pocket for some change and you've got the tool for the job.

Yeah I get that, Canadian coins at their thickest is still half of what a pound is.

The way around a stripped allen head is to not be an idiot and overtighten :) Like I said, they were fine but the threads stripped so the lower profile and allen key holder thing made it a no brainer.

Scalloped thread to come soon, trying to dig up some of my progress pics atm.
