replacing pickups

guitar noob

New member
i have a ltd m200fm guitar which came with two LH300 emg humbuckers. my guitar has a coil tap, if i was to replace the bridge pickup would the coil tap still work for the neck and would i be able to get another volume knob installed if i was to replace my bridge pickup

any help would be much appreciated

Re: replacing pickups

I'm guessing here, but I'd say as long as you wire it correctly you can coil tap a replacement humbucker, and a new volume knob would be simple enough.

Re: replacing pickups

just get a wiring schematic from the SD website and you can have your new pickups wired however you want. Just a question tho - what sound are you after and what amp are you using?

Re: replacing pickups

You need to have a replacement PU with extra lead wires (like your original PU does) if you want to maintain a coil cut for that PU. If you get a HB with with only one hot & one ground wire, you can't do any coil cuts, as the coils can't be accessed individually.

You don't need to get an extra volume pot.

Yeah, I think most Duncans can be coil tapped? Even my Invader's can be tapped, as I found out by accident when I installed them...:9: Sounded pretty good too, lots of nice harmonics!
