Requesting help with new Les Paul electronics and SH-1 59' wiring question...

Hi all, I am beginning to install my newly purchased SH-1 59' Neck and Bridge pickup as well as a Les Paul upgrade kit.. Pots, output, tone switch... my dilemma is.... I have 2 diagrams from each product... However they are not wired the same when comparing both diagrams.

I'm new to guitar electronics but do know how to solder.

My question is... why does it show on the Seymour Duncan Single Conductor diagram to solder the main wire to the "end" piece/pole, but in the Guitar Fetish Les Paul wiring it shows to solder the pickups to the center piece/pole???

Also, how do I wire the capicators? On the Seymour Duncan diagram it shows the "end" volume to the "end" tone on the pots.. But on the Les Paul electronics setup it shows "center" tone to "end" volume... And when it comes to the output jack, how do I know which pole is which?

Somewhat confused and Youtube is not helping at all from what I've seen. I'm installing this in a semi hollow Epiphone Dot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

With regard to the tone capacitor wiring in those two drawings, either wiring will function the same.

Read this thread. It'll help you to understand what you're getting into.

HTH,

Thanks. It helps a bit but for me it doesn't break down how to wire it. I'm good as far as physically taking out and putting back in. It's the wiring that is throwing me off. And as far as grounding, do I use 1 wire to ground all the pots as it shows on the SH-1 59 diagram? And it shows a ground wire (I assume) to the top of the tone switch. I'm assuming that means to attach a wire to the other side of the switch? I really am a newbie when it comes electronics.

Thanks. That was throwing me off as well as how to properly ground everything.

You might want to consider doing '50s style wiring on the LP. I did it to mine and really liked the results.

I just looked up 50's style wiring... Was the difference brighter for you? Did you use the bigger capacitors? The site I was looking at suggested .047 (big orange ones).

I cannot remember what my tech did with regards to the cap. I found the '50s wiring made the pickups more open and less compressed (if that makes sense).
