hi, does anybody know what the colour bands would be on a .220k ohm resistor and what type it would be ie. carbon or metal film etc and where to find them as i cannot locate them.

Normally, you'ld just call that 220, which would be: red, red, black.
If you actually meant 220k, it would be red, red, yellow.

Carbons are usually dark brown, and metal films light blue. A metal film one might also be designated as 221 or 224 for 220 and 220k respectively.
(2 significant digits, followed by number of zero's.)

Actually, carbon comp resistors are dark brown. Carbon film resistors are tan or kinda beige. You'll find carbon films more common these days than carbon comp. You'll find CC's more in stuff made before the 70's. Anyway, carbon films and metal films can be found at Radio Shack.
