Return to the metal...

Boogeyman of Tone
After posting some more subdued stuff recently, I've decided it's time to do something metallllll....... \m/ :D

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=109785&songID=3897579

I'm not entirely sure wtf happened with the drums - possibly the 'live playback' button was switched on which would've put in some small timing errors (which at 240bpm playing blast beats are pretty obvious)... The non blasted drums seem fine though.

Guitar was a stock Ibanez RG570, amp models Guitar Port, recording programme Cubase SX.

Comments+criticism welcome. :headbang:

EDIT - Have just taken some highs out of the guitar tracks (they were too fizzy sounding)

EDIT no2- Brought the guitars up in the mix a bit... added a tiny bit more mids...

Edit - Re Eq'd the guitars for the squillionth time, added bass...

I dig the riffs. The programming is great as well. I would like to hear the guitars come up more and the drums down a little.

Re: Return to the metal...

Yep, drums are a little off. The lawn mower is not running right.
Nice tone...Kinda slayer-ish.
I really like the riffs, and song idea...
Get that drum machine fixed and re-record it.
--With bass--

Re: Return to the metal...

blast beats ... dont people have no more imagination anymore?

definately has a slayer vibe. the normal drummage and riffind is realy cool though. headbang material, but i just cant get over blast beats

Re: Return to the metal...

Good guitar work!!!

Blastbeats aren´t my cup of tea but the "normal" beats had a good "headbang-groove" :)

Re: Return to the metal...

Ok, I've tweaked the guitars a little, let me know if that's a bit fuller/meaner

Re: Return to the metal...

Have re-tweaked (wasn't happy with previous tweaking) - added a bit of 3000 hz for a bit more 'cut'

Re: Return to the metal...

Bass now added... I haven't mixed bass into extreme metal for absolutely ages, so it's probably not done too well

Re: Return to the metal...

Hmm, drum pad? The riffs are sort of ok, but to me there's too much in the same sort of tonal center for me to be really into them. It's like same chord for rhythm player, then lead plays a bunch of riffs around that chord. To me, it's not having enough tonal variety. However, the chops are good, don't take that wrong.

That was pretty much what I was going for though :laugh2:

No worries, no offense taken, everyone has different tastes.

Cheers for checking it out :)

Re: Return to the metal...

Holy moly that's some tight stuff there Mr Nuntuis - that bridge, around 1:15 is very cool - I like those chords.

Killer heavy stuff bro :headbang: :firedevil

Re: Return to the metal...

Excellent Track Man, you have a pretty similar musial taste composition than i have
pretty similar ideas of riffage etc.

my name is´nt josephine at all
HAHAHAHAAHAHH

Re: Return to the metal...

cool man like the slayeresque riffage ...but those drums whoa...instant headache for me anyway

Re: Return to the metal...

i agree w/ the rest. awesome guitars, drums need work. they sound fake but watever at least u get the feel (i shouldnt be talking i cant afford a drum machine). i dislike the blast beats as well, they need to be slowed down unless its something u really like then go for it! overall, it is really good.
