Reverb pedal in your chain...

I know where to put everything as far as effects on my pedal board, but I am getting a new head that does not have reverb on board. I am gonna pick up a EH Holy Grail, but where does that go in the pedal board? I would assume it would be at the very end of the chain, but I have checked out a few peoples pedalboards, and a few have them at the begining, or just before there Delays and Chorus. I guess I could see that if they are running a stereo rig, but mine is just pedals -->amp. there is no FX loop on the amp so I can't run it that way.

i like my reverb last. the only things i would have after it would be my Lo Fi and a BBE sonic maximizer. I like to have the reverb affect the whole signal than like chorusing the reverb or flanging the reverb, etc.

+1 to having reverb last . . . especially if you want your amp to sound like an amp with built in reverb. But, the good thing about having the pedal is that you can play around with the position to change the sounds . . .

I use a Holy Grail in my FX loop, and mix it in just to sound like natural spring reverb.
However, you said you didn't have an FX loop. I might also suggest that you spend a little more and buy the Holier Grail, instead of the Holy Grail. It has better options for tailoring the reverb, which is important if you're going to use it into the front of the amp. I also saw the Holiest Grail, which they just released, but that thing is well over $300!!

how about if you tend to play really clean through a fender BF amp? would it be necessary to go for the other grails to get a more natural tone?
