Reverb problem

My AC30 seems to have lost much of it's beautiful reverb after a transport from North- to South-Norway. I tried replacing the reverb tubes, which only helped a little. In addition to this, the reverb is now very noisy. When I carry it around, I can hear the springs rattling inside. Have the springs "fallen off" or something? If so, how do I fix it?

Re: Reverb problem

Check the connections going to & from the tank to the amp. If they're sill connected and that doesn't improve things pull the tank out and see if the internal solder connections are broken or something else is amiss.

If neither of those is working it's probable that something inside the amp is wonky. Is it one of the new AC30's with the 'verb and FX loops or a handwired?

Re: Reverb problem

If this is a really old amp, you might have a broken spring in the tank. If it is a new amp, you might have a broken spring in the tank.

Upon further review, it sounds a lot like you might have a broken spring in the tank. :)

if it's a new amp, just buy a new tank. if it's an older amp, you might attempt a repair in order to save the old part for resale sake, but it is often not a very easy repair. Good luck.

Re: Reverb problem

It's a '91 model. The connections to/from the tank to the amp are ok. Well Scott, I might check the springs then...
