after having my les paul installed with two duncans a custom ceramic zebra
in the bridge and A2pro reverse zebra in the neck, heres my impressions:
the custom is one of the best pickups ive played and the quotes from the forum users have payed off, very bassy and strong but not overwhelming in all frequencies like a JB for examples sake.
the clean sound is fenomenal and sounds every bit like a real gibson les paul sound(even thow mine is a chinese sx).harmonics com with ease and the oversound is way fatter than my JB.
very bassy but not like an invader that makes notes mushy, just perfect.
when i switch back to my strat with the JB i kinda resent not having the crunchy sound on the les paul with custom.
my les paul sounds great on the classic 50 and the rage practising aMP.not so with the strat.
i always thought the anderson H3+ was the ultimate humbucker for infernal sounds but it aint got the great cleans and fat clear sound of the mighty CUSTOM.and there it will stay for a long time.
having misplaced the A2pro upside down had my tech put it the
right way the sound became just an inch less bright.i actually liked better the wrong way !!
it is very dark,in a good and wonderfull way played threw the clean channel, sounding like a jazz archtop guitar and alll those other famous brazilian bossa artists.
thats reaally nice but i didnt get this guitar to play only jazz or brazilian music.
distorted was the real disapointment,it is sweet but what really bothered me was the lack of any mids, perhap´s there is more than a 59,but i felt the 59 was less thin(maybe something to do with the A2 mag??)
i wish it was brighter cause sometimes i get the feeling that im playing a 59 with the tone pot turned half way down !!!
i guess its only the natural caracteristics of the a2pro....REALLY DARK.also notes on the high strings feel single coil like on solo runs.
.is this normal?? the other strings feel very bassy and humbucker like.
maybe its the sx guitar to fault for being really bassy but i just cant understand this, how can a truly almost legendary neck pickup that ive heard in so many sound clip´s and played in other guitars(brian moore) sound so bad ?
