I just got mine saturday ( a zebra Trembucker version! ) so I haven't had a chance to install it. It was wound by MJ...but I was hoping it'd be signed by Seymour. It wasn't. Oh well, no big deal.

Anyways, here's a nice review of the pickup: http://www.legendarytones.com Just click on guitars then click on the review.

I understand this pickup is one of Ken Fisher's favorites too!

Very cool Lew. I just spent the weekend installing a JP set into my 59 RI, a new JB/59 pair into my RG 550 and a JB/Hot Stack/lil59 combo into my Strat. I'm finding I like the C-5 in hard tails but the JB works better for my ears in trem loaded guitars.

Just out of curiousity, who is Ken Fisher? I've read some of his stuff and like most people I agree with some of it and other stuff of his I don't nessessarily agree with. What exactly makes him noteable? I have never heard of him before you started posting about him.

Hi Robert, Ken Fisher is an amp tech and guitarist with golden ears! He's the guy who created the TRAINWRECK amps. Those and DUMBLES are probably the most highly regarded of all the boutique amps...they sell for a fortune! Ken's really knowledgable about Vox AC30's and Marshalls. Alot of folks think he's #1. Wow it looks like he gives the antiquities - both single and hum - top spot as well.

Hey, Lew. With the description in the article, isn't a Seth Lover a '59 with a Alnico 2? Anyone tried this in the bridge? Opinion?

Thanks... Just when I had myself convinced I didnt need one of these.

Re: Review of Duncan EVH or 78 Humbucker:

Anyone ever compared an A2 '59 with the EVH model? It seems to me like they'd be pretty similar, except for the wax potting. I have an A3 '59 I'm going to try in the bridge of my Wolfgang soon.

Robert,
if you have Gerald Weber's first amp book, then you already know that Gerald used lots of Ken's stuff from his articles in Vintage Guitar.

back when we were discussing the effect of different caps on tone, I quoted a couple things from Ken's articles here:
Ken Fischer

I don't know the state of his health, but I know he's had a debilitating disease that has made him quit building amps - part of the reason for Komet amps, probably.

So Lew, when are you going to install the EVH/78? We're dying to hear what you think about it.
