Rewinding/repairing a Joe Barden sinlge coil?

One of my buddies loaned me a custom shop Tele loaded with Joe Bardens and ummm...unfortunately we killed the neck pickup in the process of reparing/modding the guitar. It looks like the high E got caught under the lip and cut the coils, the wrapping on that side of the pickup totally doesn't look Kosher. I dunno how it happened since it was working BEFORE we changed the bridge and rewired the output jack...but yah...we're 90% sure that the pickup is toast.

So...since we can't get a new Barden and finding a single Tele neck pickup is gonna be like looking for a needle in a haystack we're looking to explore the avenue of repair. When I talked to my tech this afternoon he suggested having Lindy Fralin rewind it and I dunno... since he doesn't really do the stack/rail thang' both my friend and I are apprehensive about it...ideally we'd get the pickup repaired and have it sound like a Barden. So, what other names can we toss into the ring? Probably the Duncan Custom Shop and...??? Who else can rewind a pickup with original sound & reasonable cost being the main factors.

FWIW I'm waiting on an answer from the Barden company.

good luck waiting...Joe skipped town a year or 2 ago, he left with paid in advance order that didn't get filled and even left owning Fender hundreds of pickups that they have never gotten. Joe is GONE for sure! You bets best is gonna be to get it rewound...MJ and Seymour do rewinds in the Custom Shop and you might check with Bill Lawrence...he actually is doing the new pickups for the 2006 and later Danny gatton Telecasters since Joe Barden skipped town...Bill did some research on the Bardens and he might be willing to rewund them, personally I would check with MJ at the SD custom shop!

What's a comperable replacement? Anything from like Dimazrio, Duncan, Kinman...etc...that would match up tonally with the bridge Barden? Maybe a Vintage Rail?

Man this sucks!

I haven't killed a pickup in like 10 years...I'm not even 100% sure it's dead...probably just a blob of solder on the switch that's shorting the thing out...grrrrr...

we all fix bardens.

bardens break because the design lends itself to damage.

There is nothing else you can buy that will have a tone even in the ballpark of a Barden...if Rev. Donzo has fixed a Barden before I'd let him at it...Bardens are a bit of a quircky design and lots of people simply don't understand them!
