So despite enjoying other Jags and Jazzmasters Rhythm circuits, I hated mine to the point that for years its been unwired (wired as a second volume pot for Rhythm pickup, today I thought I'd wire the tone pot back in and see.
For starters I wired it more like telecaster wiring where the tonepot comes off the input instead of stock where the signal is fed into the tone pot and then into the volume pot. This seemed to make a difference to the tone when on 10 and the taper of the volume pot (if anyone can explain to me why the original wiring was done I've only seen it on Jaguars). It was honky as hell though with the tone pot down and didnt really darken almost like it just increased the cutoff frequency q when dialed down almost like a fake jazzbox lofi sound, so I changed that 0.01uf pot for and 0.047uf and perfect, has a different tone to the solo settings with tone down slightly darker and a bit more low mids but awesome, great for swampy trem kind of playing. Can't believe I never did it earlier. Anyone with a Squier Jag I'd recommend at least trying different caps in there.
