RG-120 body upgrade, as it is progressing.

Here are a couple of pics of the mahogany replacement body I picked up up from a fellow forum member a few weeks back. This is the replacement body for my RG-120 that currently has a vibrato bridge and the ubiquitous agathis body. I've been sanding and applying Minwax Wipe On Poly for the last few weeks, I think I'm on coat #9. I'll probably put one more on tomorrow, then let it set for a week before I wet sand. Enjoy.

For any wondering, it'll be getting a fixed bridge with Graphtek TusqXL string saddles. Along with an SH-6nRCA4 and TB-15 in Triple Shot rings. Black and chrome hardware. I can't wait to get it put together to hear how it sounds.

I have some great tips on that wipe on poly stuff.... oh yeah don't bother using it haha/

Nar it is good but its not easy getting to a ultra high gloss with it.

What one are you using the waterbased or the oil based that comes in the metal tin??

Water based. Not getting an ultra high gloss is good news to me. I'm going for more of a natural satin finish. Though I will be interested in what some carnauba wax will wind up making it look like after I'm done.
I've always been a fan of sleepers.

The wax will make it have a shine as will cutting it back. Make sure you dont try that wax until you are happy with the clear.

The problem is the more you apply that stuff the more you have to do as it begins to show the flaws but it has little to no filling properties as it has to go on so thin.

I found theres was little difference between their satin and gloss product.

Have you left the sides of the guitar painted?

Yep, sides have the original paint. It makes for a nice contrast.

I think I'll stick to carnauba for those too.
