Rid ... question

Rid,

I have a question for you. You seem to know a fair bit about the CM pedals. I know you are sick of pedals right now, but if you are not too sick of them maybe you can help. I am always looking for something new, and I realized I do not have a CM pedal at all. As such I am thinking of picking up either a AC-tone or Plexitone. I have pulled clips from various places to try and get a feel as I can't locate a dealer near me. It sounds from the clips I have heard so far that the AC-tone is a smoother, more violin like sustain voiced pedal and the Plexitone more of a raspy (good way), gutsy toned pedal. Though one clip had an interesting Santana vibe using the Plexitone. Is that how you would describe them, or am I off base here?

Re: Rid ... question

Well not strange that I know them, as I have made both pedals;)
The AC-tone is sweetvoiced like a old chimey Vox amp, natural od, two identical channels.
The Plexitone is a fat bottomed heavier drive, lotsa bite, like Brit voiced amps best, or more raw Tweed like amps if going the Fender way in amps.
Hehe Stevie beat me to it!
But the Plexi was molded after a few 1959 tops....one normal channel, and one slightly more gainy and fatter, not a pedal for everyone.

Re: Rid ... question

Plexitone is in the JTM-45 area and the AC-tone is aimed at AC-30 tone.

OK. This fits for me. It is a good way for me to think of them. I think then my assessment would for me then. Do they handle running ot Fender and Brit voiced amps equally well?

Well, I came to the right place then! OK. This fits my impressions. I liked them both, but I was thinking of a smooth singing lead tone here particularly. So I think the AC fits better for me in that area. The plexi rhythm the other would fit well for me.

In the perfect world : GET BOTH !!! - seriously, the ACTone is the best AC30 tone i have ever heard, and that incl. the VOX AC30 amps them selfs !!! :smokin:

YES, i prefer the ACTone over the amp it was moddeled after !
