ring modulator

i remember reading on some other forum a few years ago about this guy who made his own ring modulator, and showed how easy it was. i was just wondering if anyone here has tried to, and if so, how easy is it? i have a little bit of skill with a soldering iron, and probably could follow most instructions, as long as no math is involved.

also, how hard would it be to make something as complex as a moogerfooger RM, with all of the bells and whistles? i remember that the one the guy made had maybe one, if any, controls on it.

thank you for any help

Re: ring modulator

The schematic for the Dan Armstrong Green Ringer is available on the web - it's a simple one. Also, I believe BYOC sells a kit that comprises a Green Ringer and an Orange Squeezer in one box.

As far as more-complex ring modulators go, I haven't a clue.

Edit: Here ya go -

For all of you who don't even know what a ring modulator sounds like, check out the beginning of Jon Lord's intro to "Lazy" on Deep Purple's Made in Japan.
