"Ring Of Fire", My tribute to Johnny Cash

I saw the movie, Walk The Line last Friday. Thought it was really interesting and I hadn't really listened much to Johnny Cash before either. So it was kind of an introduction.

Well, I got really inspired by the Man in Black. So I figured I'll try to make a cover of Ring Of Fire as I really like that song.

I started last Saturday, and well this is how it turned out. Borrowed some Midi tracks from a Guitar Pro tab and assigned VST instruments to them. Edited here and there, recorded a little here and there.

The guitar tracks are done with my Yamaha 12-string. Vocals through a headset... go figure :laugh2: not the best quality but it was all that I had at hands.

i'll be honest, those horns killed it man they sound like a musical car horn..dukes of hazzard anyone LOL. lower the volume on them and it may de-cheese it a bit. i think the vocals sound cool but i can't tell 100% since all i hear are those damn horns LOL. also i can hardly hear the guitar in the mix under those horns....conclusion way too much fake horn!

I completely agree with you on the trumpets... so I lowered them. I liked the staccato trombones though, so I just lowered them a little. I raised the guitar a little as well, but I don't think it should stand out too much in this song, so just a little.

Let me know if they should go down even more....

This one fecthed a record of mine... #6 in the Country Cover charts. Only my "Sunshine Of Your Love" cover has climed that high. So I have to admit that I'm quite pleased

Anyone else that got any comments or thoughts on this one? I'd love to hear
