Rio Grande P-90 & Fender Texas Specials.

Re: Rio Grande P-90 & Fender Texas Specials.

texas specials (like almost all fender pups) are alnico 5. not sure what model the rio grande is since i don think they have one called the p90 but it could be alnico 5 as well. i assume the pole pieces look similar to the fender pups? if so its probably a half-breed which is a5

Looks like there are philips screw heads on the bridge pup - so it could be Dirty Harry or DH jr.
I paired a TS neck and middle with Custom made pup by Q pickups. I spec'd a little hotter than the old TS bridge pup - round 7.6k PE 42 AWG with A5. The problem is how to cramp 7.6k onto a standard height bobbin in order to get a broad coil.

Thanks for the response, yeah the bridge might be a D. Harry. Its got 2 thin long bar magnets underneath. These pickups & this combo totally scream in this guitar. Ive had many single coils before and these are really the only ones i like.
The Strat is 9.6 pounds & its a Big sound.

I took some meter readings :

Bridge : 11.55K

Middle : 6.35K

Neck : 6.25K
