Rivera Knucklehead

Anyone own it? Or does someone know something about it?
Does it has a lot of gain?

I'm looking for a monster high gain amp so I'm leaning towards the mesa but the Knucklehead looks real good too though I wonder how heavy it can get.

Anyplace I could hear some soundsamples? (It's the KR-55 type btw.)

Dude you made a big mistake, As soon as Twilight Posts on this thread you Will buy the KnuckleHead :laugh2:

i heard soem of his recordings and the tone is Killer..

I would have proboly had one now after the experience and that there an EL34 amp so it would have that Marshall "Openess" too..

Re: Rivera Knucklehead

Dude... I wont get into details. I'll let Twilight handle that.... but seriously... buy the Knucklehead. I won't even try and convince you. The amp will convince itself (if you get a chance to play one.)

Re: Rivera Knucklehead

Even looking at the specs of the amp on the site and that its really a boutique amp with the high gain is nearly convincing in itself..But just wait till twilight gets here..Suprised his spider senses arent tingling already..:laugh2:

Sad but true... every post I've ever seen the word "Rivera" in, he's always popped in with nothing but the most convincing words I've ever seen. Hell, he'd probly get me to vote for him for president.

Re: Rivera Knucklehead

I guess I'll be the first Rivera owner to post in this thread. :)

Though I own a Rake Reverb, I have played the KH (as well as the KH2). It's a beast! It has very nice cleans, good crunch, and a monster lead channel. If you're into modern high gain, it's an awesome amp. The version with reverb has some of the wettest reverb you'll ever hear, too.

For me, I'm more into Soldano-ish high gain so the KH really didn't do it for me. Riveras have great features and awesome quality. They're great amps all around.

Re: Rivera Knucklehead

I had one, non reverb, KH55. Mistakenly sold it when I brainwashed myself that all circuit boards are bad.

Wish I still had it. It could pretty much do it all. I played it for the cleans beleive it or not. I used the fender side of it in a country gig I had going for a while. Used a closed back 2x12 with a V30 and a G12H30 in it. Great combo for that and many other amps.

Big and heavy, the KH is. Built like a tank. Two channels with a boost on each one. Makes it like a virtual 4 channel amp that is accessed by a footswitch. The fender side had a push/pull mid pot that would take you from tweed to blackface. Very nice feature.

Mine ran EL34 from Siemens. Not sure if they come in 6L6 versions, but I can highly recommend the EL34 based KH55. I hear the reverb model is seriously cool and it has a much more extensive footswitch that allows for "patches" to be saved. Something like that.

I'd grab one of those over the standard Mesa offerings any day of the week.

Re: Rivera Knucklehead

Sounds good guys! Yeah all those features on their website look amazing and I can get the knucklehead for a very good price. (1200)

But not every amp is for anyone. I'm not a big fan of 'the Marshall sound', heck most of my favorite tones come from bands that use Rectifiers. I do wonder if the Knucklehead can also do the thick fat grind thing like a rectifier can. If the knucklehead is voiced like a hotrodded marshall then I'm not shure if it's for me.

Maybe I should pm Twilight if he can make a very heavy clip for me.

Re: Rivera Knucklehead

Wow I just did a forum search, I really missed a lot of talk about the Rivera Knucklehead, sorry to have started yet another post with the same questions.

However I did notice no one yet answered the question of how brutal the knucklehead can be.
Does it have bottom end?

Re: Rivera Knucklehead

The new Slipknot album is recorded totally with Knucklehead reverbs....
Listen to how tight and focused the sound sound is on that, that will answer your questions about enough gain and botttom end!
My new knucklehead is on its way as we speak!!
