Robben Ford talks Seymour Duncan

I came across this nice interview with Robben Ford by Andertons in the UK.

Much of the interview has Ford talking about Seymour Duncan products, namely the Palladium pedal (!), and a Custom Shop pickup set (2 Eclair neck pickups!) in his Les Paul.

Like his playing, Ford doesn't speak unless he has something to say, so this interview is full of cool nuggets:

Re: Robben Ford talks Seymour Duncan

Is it really true that he's using two identical Eclair pickups?

At the end of the interview they do a Les Paul shoot out and Robben takes back what he said about both pickups in his guitar being Eclairs. He seems to say that the neck pickups in both Les Pauls are the same and a Gibson.

He seems to be saying that only the bridge pickup in his guitar had been changed.

Confusing!

I will say that I prefered the sound of his guitar, even though his guitar does seem to have less bass from the neck pickup.

Maybe it's just adjusted further from the strings.

Confusing!

For sure. From what I understood. He's using an Eclair Neck Humbucker (A4) in the bridge position since he likes them under wound. Also, his neck pickup height does seem lower than the other LP. You can sort of see the lower wall of the pickup ring. Pretty cool that he's playing an R8. I love mine.

Now, I'll be going back to the tasty licks in this video and proceed to butcher them :D
