Was reading that his Strat was actually 2 SC's together. Any SD hum that could get ya close to that biting treble with the fullness?

Yup. They call it a Stag Mag. Two singles mounted on a humbucker frame. Wire it in parallel for more treble bite.

Re: Robbie Robinson

Since I take it,he just had the middle pickup moved down to be out of his way, would just wiring the bridge and middle in parallel achieve the same result?

Re: Robbie Robinson

The gold finished guitar seen in the film The Last Waltz was a vintage instrument, modified to RR's specifications. The short-lived Fender RR signature model employed three Gold Lace Sensors, arranged as one in the neck position, nothing in the centre and the other two, side by side, like a Dually, nearest the bridge.

To nail the RR tone, you will need a Fender Bassman 4x10 and a truckload of attitude.

Re: Robbie Robinson

Ya it's the 1 in the L.W. version.Love the Treble bite! Going to switch 1 Strat to SSH and that sounds like a great option Clip at 1:30 or so.

Re: Robbie Robinson

For RR's tone on The Last Waltz, make that a truckload of coke! :D

Re: Robbie Robinson

Interesting! Always thought a 59 full humbucker was a good CR tone for a Strat bridge. Tried the mini 59, it was a little thin sounding to me

Here is a recent example of what is under discussion.

Clearly, the bridge position "humbucker" is formed of two single coil pickups butted right up beside each other. The nearest thing that Seymour Duncan would have to this would be a Stag Mag assembled onto a Nighthawk baseplate. That would be a custom order.

I cannot remember how the pickup selector switch combines the three coils.
