Rock Slides

Anyone try these? They look good but are they worth the money over a normal metal slide?
Also does anyone know what 12/16" is in ring size?

Re: Rock Slides

They are the best slides that I've ever used, and not much more expensive than your typical slide. I like how they grip your finger well, and they sit very comfortably on your hand. Can't help you with the finger size part though, sorry.

Re: Rock Slides

The price seems to vary wildly over here as I've had between £12 and £25 while looking around online. They do look good. I just wonder if the medium will fit on my middle finger properly.

Re: Rock Slides

I'd go to the local hardware store and head to where they have the pipe fittings. Stick your finger into as many pipe fittings as you can to get a feel for the size that you want. It's ghetto, but would work for cheap. If you have a ring for the finger that you want to play slide you could always bust out the ruler and check what size that is too . . .

Re: Rock Slides

I found a comparison chart. All of their slides are too large for my fingers. I could only use the small size on my index finger.

Re: Rock Slides

Ive not seen these.. I have a dunlap glass slide and whenever I try to use it, the neighbors thing Im abusing an animal..

Re: Rock Slides

I normally use the neck from a wine bottle which I cut off myself. Put it this way with my fingers the Gingerbread Witch would never have thought I was fat enough to eat, and commercial slides always end up too large. Maybe have to look for some stainless steel tubing and cut it down.

Slides are like guitars strings or picks. Not everyone will like the same thing. If you are in the UK you should check out Diamond bottlenecks. These are awesome slides

Now as far as Rock slides are concerned..... well I have never used one but they look really good. I am not a big fan of metal slides in general. I prefer Glass or Porcelain. Out of all the metal slides I have used I prefer brass. Good sound and lots of sustain!

Just get some Velcro and put it on the inside to make it fit better. I like a thick wall slide. They sound a lot better and sustain well, but finding one that fit is always a challenge. I've been using a few this way and they stay in place pretty well.

I like these also!

Re: Rock Slides

I normally use glass ones but wanted another sound more like I get with my lap steel. I'll have to have a look in the real world and not just online and see if I can find one that fits.
