Rockerverb vs dual dark vs th100

hey im looking for a new amp that is somewhat versatile but aimed mostly at metal, i like jim roots tone from slipknot, many others too, i want a tight powerful and full sounding tone that is dark, i love the orange tone for metal.... anyway i also love lots of clarity, money is important here, a dual dark is alot of money right now and i can find rockerverbs pretty cheap... just wondering wat is the better not considering money and wat is the best bang for the buck out of the three. which has most clarity, most gain etc

im playing a schecter avenger 6 fr with alternative 8 in bridge and jazz in neck

Something from the 5150 family. (Peavey 6505, etc.)

Jim Root's Slipknot tone is heavily processed, it doesn't really sound like an Orange anymore.

Re: Rockerverb vs dual dark vs th100

well wat about live? i definitely hear the orange in the song psychosocial... but its much tighter... maybe a thunderverb... also i cant deny i loved ola tone in his youtube playthrough of both the th100 and rockerverb... however i suppose the oranges are more experimental, and the peavey 6534+ (i love el34s) would be the safer route to go

i'm gona use my "taste testing" metaphor...

You're shopping for soda... they are all sugary and fizzy and cold. You just need to sip a few and figure out which flavor you like.

All of the amps discussed so far are good, pro-quality amps. You just have to listen to them and figure out which one you want.

or be like me and just buy every amp you own one at a time when the good deals come around.

I would take a second hard look at Marshall, especially DSL's that were made in the UK. They are not much money now but I feel like it's only a matter of time before people start to get nostalgic for them and their value will be on the rise. Just sayin..

Are you gigging, Chazzy?

The reason I ask is because if you don't need 100watts you should look at the jim root tiny terror. Its designed to give you that sound at an affordable price and a household friendly wattage.

Re: Rockerverb vs dual dark vs th100

The TTs are supposed to be pretty giggable volumes too, especially if you get a high db speaker set.

Re: Rockerverb vs dual dark vs th100

The dual dark loks good but it is expensive new and you might not find many on the used market...

I'd say go with the rockerverb first (go try it out from a seller if you can), since you can get it used easily.

I used to own a th30 and to me the th series is amazing but you might read mixed reviews, especially on the orange forum.

About gigging with a 15watter for heavier music: I saw my favorite band (everytime I die) last thursday... jordan was using a tiny terror with some pedals instead of his usual 2203... he sounded good but the tone really did lack some bottom and was a bit fizzy. While they are easily giggable with cabs, imho, the 15watters will lack some depth and punch in higher-volume applications...

Re: Rockerverb vs dual dark vs th100

i really dont need a marshall right now, have a 6100 el34 100watt marshall... would be pointless to get another, i want something new and different, and right now my current marshall isnt quite giving me the type of heavy bass and low mid and insane saturated gain i want... but for any other styles its insanely nice especially classic rock... led zeppelin and gnr tone screams from it

Re: Rockerverb vs dual dark vs th100

i already have my practice amps and everything... i need an insanely loud amp... i normally crank both the master volume and channel volume to 7-8 on my marshall 100 watt currently... i could go to 9 and id probably cut perfectly over my drummers meinl extreme metal crash which is insanely loud

Re: Rockerverb vs dual dark vs th100

good advice, and yea ive looked around at dual darks, its seems like it is the perfect amp for me however there so damn pricy :( ... the rockerverb really sounds good, i need an intensely loud amp as i said in a previous comment, and im only playing through a 212.... anyway thanks guys i think im gonna go for a rockerverb... ill try one at a store, if not ill go 6534+
